Year in Review
In this section we review our crafting in 2014. Kimberly had a good crafting year. She used most of the yarn that she bought and sold yarn that she wasn't in love with anymore. She's also proud of herself for sewing more this year. While neither of us loves sewing, we are starting to like it more and Kimberly hopes that she will one day sew an elaborate Halloween costume. One of the reasons we started the podcast was to help up focus more on knitting this year and it's worked pretty well. Kimberly thinks that 2014 was a good year for knitting and crafting.

Thuy thinks she did pretty well this year in knitting and crafting. Some of the bulky yarns may be repurposed as accessories or might be sold as the SoCal weather isn't practical for bulky wool yarns.

We are both really glad that we started the podcast and are having a lot of fun being a part of the knitting community in a new way and are grateful for all of our listeners.

Vista Fiber Arts Fiesta Recap

by fishgirl182, October 21, 2014

Hi, everyone! Just popping in for a quick post to tell you a little bit about the Vista Fiber Arts Fiesta that I attended a couple of weeks ago. I don't want to get too details since I recapped the whole thing in Episode 4, but I had some fun pics that I wanted to share for those who might not follow me on Instagram

My friend P and I arrived at the Air & Steam Engine Museum around 10am right when it opened. We were greeted with this sign.

Not sure why, but this cracks me up. I did not have to dodge any tractors, thankfully. We made a single round of the vendors when we got there, stopping to fondle everything. There were some really great indie dyers at the show. Some of my favorites are below.

Knittter's Brewing Company

Candy Skein

more Candy Skein

Silly Sheep Fibers
Lazer Sheep Yarns

Inner Yarn Zen

There was also a really cool weaving barn with a bunch of looms. Some were really old while some looked more modern. I have never done any weaving before but hanging out with the looms certainly got me curious about it. I don't have the space for it but maybe one day...

Then we had lunch, which was the pulled pork special. It wasn't my favorite pulled pork ever but it was still tasty. And mmmm, BBQ sauce.

We also saw alpacas! They were super cute. I wish I could have taken a couple of them home.

I had a really fun time and I would definitely go back next year. If you want more info, please visit the Vista Fiber Arts Fiesta website.

Thanks for stopping by!

I Blame Kimberly

by fishgirl182, September 30, 2014
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that I bought some new fabric last weekend. I blame this all on Kimberly because she decided to be productive and make project bags from her fabric stash. I don't know about you, but I have been obsessed with project bags lately. I stalk Etsy and Instagram for cool new project bags and make up imaginary shopping lists in my head.

I have a large fabric stash myself but realized recently that I don't love sewing. I like the things you can make with it but the process is not very fun for me. So my fabric was just languishing in my apartment when suddenly Kimberly told me that she was on a mission to use her fabric and make some project bags. While I thought this was a good idea, it didn't make me want to bust out by sewing machine. Then Kimberly needed some contrasting fabric and asked me to go to Joann's with her. While there, I purchased more fabric! Halloween is near and they had some awesome zombie fabric (I love zombie stuff) and I could not resist. Still, even after purchasing this fabric, I planned to just put it in my stash and not sew with it anytime soon. Then she sent me this.

Aren't they adorable? After seeing her pics, I decided that maybe I would just try to make one project bag again, just to practice.  Although I messed up a lot, the end result was a pretty cute sock bag (yes, we both stashed the same fabric, unbeknownst to the other).

Making it was a pretty arduous process and I thought I was done with sewing for a while. But I really, really wanted my zombie bag for Halloween and I felt that I could make the bag faster this time since had messed up so much on my first bag. So, crazy person that I am, the next night I just started cutting for a new project bag, this one slightly larger.

Zombies!!! I love this one because who doesn't want to knit with zombies?

I don't want to give too much away because Kimberly and I plan on talking about our sewing adventures on the next podcast but I'll leave you with the two tutorials that we used to make our bags.

Tutorial for Kimberly's bags
Tutorial for Thuy's bags

Do we have any other listeners who like to sew out there?
