New Store Opening: Make One Yarn Company

Hi, everyone! I am popping by the blog today to tell you all about a fantastic new yarn store that has just opened in the Southern California area. Make One Yarn Company in La Verne, CA opened up its doors recently on March 1. I found out about the event from Make One's Instagram account, which I follow. I am so glad that I decided to make the long drive out to La Verne for the opening (it's about a 40 minute drive in good traffic), because the store is super cute and I definitely plan on going back.

Make One is nestled in a great location in a small shopping area (right next to Tuesday Morning). I missed the shop the first time through the parking lot but I was told later that the shop is planning on having a much larger sign made soon. I arrived a little before 1pm, less than an hour after the shop opened and it was already filled with knitters and other fiber enthusiasts excited to check out and support a new local shop.

I was greeted with a wonderful display of Republic of Wool yarn. I've actually ordered this yarn online before but it was really cool to see a lot more of it in person. The stuff was flying off of the table at record speed.

The store has an airy layout with a small, but well curated selection of yarn. I think they're still getting in a lot of stock and the shelves are not full yet. But some of fantastic yarns I saw were Madelinetosh, Fibre Co, Berrocco, Ewe Ewe Yarns and they will be getting Neighborhood Fiber Co in as well.

The shop also had a great selection of notions, including Knitter's Pride needles and project bags handmade by one of the owner's mother. I grabbed gorgeous floral bag that reminds me of summer and watermelons.

There was a lot of bustle at the store and a great looking snack table that I, unfortunately didn't really get to take part of. But it looks like a great place for future classes and knit nights and I just wish I lived a bit closer.

I am always excited when a new yarn store opens in the area and Make One is off to a great start! I definitely plan on coming back soon. Episode 12: Baby Benjamin

Hello, hello! We are back with Episode 12 of the Twisted Stitches Podcast. Thanks for being patient with the delayed episode. Thuy’s grand plan worked and she was present for the birth of her new nephew Benjamin. He came in at a healthy 7lb 1oz. This means that Thuy needs to get cracking on her baby knitting!
